I know it's autumn, but stay warm a little longer...

I'm thrilled that I get to participate in Lonmont, CO's annual SHOCK Box Project again. This program is so cool. Because the city owns their own electric company, they get to decide what to do with those huge green transformer boxes all around town. And they decided to go colorful! For the past 9 years, they've designed an opportunity for artists to submit designs to beautify these big boxes with a community vote. That's right. The residents of Longmont and anyone that will physically come to Longmont's Art Museum while the submissions are displayed, can vote on their favorite designs. the people get to decide what they see when they drive by or walk around town and pass these giant 3D canvases. This year, my 'Insectopia' design was one of five winners! So this season, there will be over 50 painted boxes!

It's such a fun project to paint. I get to be outside in the beautiful Colorado weather, and meet all sorts of people walking by, talk to them about public art and enjoy the oohs and ahhs of admirers. It's fantastic. I just hope to beat the cold weather. And I'm almost done...

I'll update you with photos when it's complete. But in the meantime, here's the progress:
